Fraser Urquhart, born 1993, is a straight-ahead Jazz pianist based in Edinburgh. He has worked all over Scotland with the best of musicians in the jazz community. Son of Dougie Urquhart (ex-guitarist with the Kenny Ellis/Jimmy Wood trio) he has a natural flair for swing and prides himself on his extensive repertoire of classic songs from the American Songbook. He fronts his own trio featuring clarinettist Dick Lee and bassist Roy Percy and quintet featuring eminent saxophonist John Burgess and his dear father. His hero, pianist Brian Kellock, remains possibly his biggest influence. He is showcasing his new quintet featuring Helena Kay and London-based Will Arnold Forster at Edinburgh Jazz Festival 2017.
