Georgia Smith is an accomplished jazz singer and songwriter from Glasgow, whose current project ‘Old Songs New Songs’, is an exciting collaboration with award-winning accomplished jazz pianist Euan Stevenson.
Accessible without selling out on quality and authenticity, their arrangements and interpretations of classic jazz standards are quirky, sophisticated, always respectful. Self-penned songs sit comfortably alongside – songs that capture the charm, warmth and wit of their predecessors. They address the age-old themes of love, heartbreak and loss but within a 21st Century context. Accompanying solo, or backed by his first-class trio, Stevenson offers a sublime touch, lush harmonies and supple rhythms while Smith delivers a rich and refined vocal with effortless style, her thoughtful vocal interpretations breathing new meaning into lyrics, both old and new.
