The Sue McCreeth Band

Concert Details

Sue McCreeth has recorded six critically acclaimed CDs and is regarded as one of the top jazz talents in the Scotland.  With her band she will be delivering original contemporary jazz compositions and a good mix of elegant standards, faithfully interpreted.  Her superb trio, Paul Harrison (piano), Mario Caribe (bass) and Doug Hough (drums) promise an engaging set, empathic in the McCreeth originals.  She has been described by bookers as a Vocal Virtuoso, delivering three octaves of improvisation live on stage.  Her writing style has been described as, ‘Highly original and [with] wildly contrasting styles,’ (The Guardian).  McCreeth is that rare vocalist that musicians turn up to hear, and they have been known to become influenced by her well-schooled take on harmonic ideas from modal, to fusion groove and chromatic artistry.  This is a truly international set with McCreeth singing in languages including French, Indian, Arabic and Portuguese.  Add to this a voice which has been described in the jazz press as, ‘Almost simultaneously ethereal, sensuous and torchy,’ and you have an evening which cannot be missed.
